Building a unifying database to enable flexible meta-analyses of data on altered states of consciousness
We are building a database that unifies and provides an integrated view of data on Altered States of Consciousness (ASC). It enables an exploration of ASC data, allowing researchers to access and visualize standardized information of the consciousness-altering effects of a series of induction methods by generating and comparing meta-analyses between different studies. The database can foster a demand for additional research regarding particular induction methods by highlighting missing data that could help further develop the research in ASC. By giving researchers the possibility to upload their own datasets, we hope to encourage further studies that will help assemble a more integrated and complete view of research on ASC.
Studied Computer Science and Cognitive Science in the University of Costa Rica. Currently studying Cognitive Science in the University of Osnabrück. My main area of interest is artificial intelligence but I became interested in this topic during the master program in the University of Osnabrück. The topic of consciousness is central in cognitive science in order to understand what consciousness really is and also to understand how consciousness could be present in non-human beings or entities.
